Music, it comes from the soul, some of us are gifted with a musical talent.
My composition consists of many different vibes generated from some movies such as; Austin Powers, Pink Panther and James bond, some southern sound with a taste of hip hop hint of Pop and some seasoning of Rock, an old and new school vibes giving you many flavors to enjoy. I feel this track could be used to tell a story or be music in a movie or musically performance and more. The track was influence by the mood which I was in and the movies I watch, the sounds were mellow, uplifting and had a groove type of feel. You could ride in your car and enjoy the ride as these sounds play, giving you two sections that is completely different but somehow goes so well together.
A, 4/4 meter was use because I wanted to keep it simple but be able to do a lot without having to get out of my groove making this song. Using the backbeat technique simplifies how to construct your beat pattern then you add you touches to the blueprint. The bass track was use from the kick track, adding some more notes to the bass track allow it to follow the drum track giving it the rhythm that is needed to enjoy, also the bass track follows the chord allowing it to play smoothly without over powering the rest of the tracks. My choices came from hearing the sound that I heard in my head, so it allows me to know what I needed and was looking for.
C major key Chord progression on track 30 was in the first sections of the composition giving the song the uplifting, movie, storytelling feels and more. Also did a couple cord key voice to make the chord play smooth not overpowering the next chord. Chord progression was, C# I - G# V – A# vi – F# IV, giving me that uplifting sound also using the Bright Mk II Blackface instrument to also capture the sound on track 30. Using one note of each chord was how I form my melody on track 31, using a Amped Synth Lead instrument sound allowing all to flow together as one. B minor key Chord progression on track 111 is use on the second section of the song. The Chord progressions follow as: E iv – Bm I – F# v – G VI – Bm - I, the melody contains notes from the Bm chords giving the sound the flow it needs to fit with the song. Once again using the backbeat technique all me to put together some nice sounding drums use from the Atlanta drum kick instruments. It gave off this laid-back vibe.
The Melody on track 112 has a synthesizer instrument on it giving it this an old and new school feel with some animation to brighten the darkness of the Bm chord presents, allowing both to work together great. The Bass track 110 also has a synthesizer instrument making the bass a little more tasteful to the ear. Audio track 115 is my vocal, was record from my interface to my microphone allowing me to add a few words to the song. Also adding a Apple loop on track 114 added more present to the overall song bringing sounds that fit in with the rest of the song. The sampler on track 113 was made to have a warp sound that brought the background sound out.
After doing everything above we get into the mixing of the song. Go through the track and get the volumes at a level reasonable to the ear and on the drum tracks Kick on track 1 has a Chroma Verb reverb, which allow me to play with a few presets and I choose room because sound is not to loud very clear. Track 35 kick also has a Space Delay on the track allowing the words to play out a little longer for the listener to catch what is being express. I also add an eq and compressor to track 112, eq added life to the song, the compress grab words and sounds if they got out of reach from the other sounds. Put together this song was fun but not easy worth doing, great learning experience. My opinion let your mind body and soul lead you to make the best music ever. Enjoy and thank you.
